Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL) is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian. It is now under the administration of the Education Commission of Liaoning Province. DUFL offers 20
teaching institutions and offers bachelor degrees in 33 fields, master’s degrees in 20 fields, and doctor’s degree in 1 field. At present, the university has an enrollment of approximate 20,000 students. Formerly known as Dalian School of Japanese Language, it was founded in 1964 with the gracious attention of late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai. In 1978, the name was changed to Dalian University of Foreign Languages. DUFL takes international education as a special characteristic and attaches great importance to international exchange. It has established exchange and cooperation programs with more than 180 universities and research institutions in about 30 countries, such as Japan, Korea, Russia, America, Canada, England, Italy etc., and also with 20 enterprises. The university is national multilingual base for promoting the Chinese language and awarded as the Chinese president office of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is the Chinese and Russian students exchange base and million plans for Hong Kong universities under the Ministry of Education, the first Education Training Base for international students in Liaoning province. It is also appointed to accept international students with Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Liaoning Government Scholarship and Dalian Government Scholarship. The university has 10 Confucius institutes in Russia, Japan, Korea, Colombia, Brazil, Guyana, Armenia, Portugal, Italy and Tunisia respectively.
【汉学院简介】Introduction to SCS
Founded in 1985, School of Chinese Studies (SCS) at Dalian University of Foreign Languages is one of the largest education bases of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages in Northeast China. It was awarded one of the first demonstration bases in Liaoning province and a national outstanding group of education for overseas students. It serves as a National HSK Testing Center in Dalian, a training and testing center for Certificate of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and a National Multilingual Base for Promoting Chinese Language. There are nearly 2,000 international students from more than 50 countries every year studying Chinese language and Chinese culture at SCS for long-term or short-term courses, or for Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or Doctor’s degree.
